Our flagship project, Naache Commons, is an 8-acre mixed-use development located in Fort St. John, BC, on Doig River First Nation’s newly designated urban reserve, Gat Tah Kwą̂. Anchored by a Shell gas bar, convenience store, and car wash, Naache Commons represents both economic independence and cultural pride—blending modern amenities with Indigenous values and design.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Manager to support daily operations, staff supervision, and customer service excellence at this flagship business.

Position Summary

The Assistant Manager will work closely with the Station Manager to ensure smooth, efficient, and profitable operations of the Shell gas bar, convenience store, and car wash. This role will be hands-on, providing frontline leadership, supporting staff training, and ensuring that customers receive a consistently excellent experience. The Assistant Manager will step into the Manager’s responsibilities when required and will play a vital role in building a positive workplace culture rooted in Doig River First Nation’s values.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Support

  • Assist in overseeing daily operations of the gas bar, convenience store, and car wash.
  • Monitor fuel inventory, store stock levels, and merchandising.
  • Support scheduling, cash handling, and POS system operations.
  • Ensure store cleanliness, maintenance, and equipment reliability.

Team Leadership

  • Provide guidance and support to frontline staff, ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Assist with training, onboarding, and coaching employees.
  • Act as shift lead in the Manager’s absence, including opening/closing responsibilities.

Customer Service

  • Deliver friendly, efficient, and professional service to all customers.
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and respectfully.
  • Foster a welcoming environment that reflects the values of Doig River First Nation.

Administrative & Financial Support

  • Assist with payroll, sales tracking, and daily cash reconciliation.
  • Help monitor KPIs and suggest improvements for efficiency and profitability.
  • Support promotional and marketing initiatives within Shell brand guidelines.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure workplace safety policies and environmental standards are followed.
  • Participate in safety training, emergency procedures, and incident reporting.
  • Support Shell’s operational, health, and safety requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in retail, gas station, or hospitality operations, with some supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with POS systems, inventory management, and cash handling.
  • Ability to problem-solve and remain calm under pressure.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable transportation.
