Naachesneh Development Corporation, as the landlord, will be managing the Kekuli Café and hiring employees on behalf of the franchisee. We are seeking a hands-on, energetic Store Manager to lead our exceptional team at the Fort St. John location opening this fall.
Position Overview
The Store Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of Kekuli Café in Fort St. John. You’ll be responsible for leading the team, managing inventory, scheduling, training, ensuring customer satisfaction, and overseeing the café’s operations to achieve excellence.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise, coach, empower and motivate staff on shift
- Ensure all team members follow policies, training systems, and customer service standards
- Conduct regular team meetings and staff check-ins
- Support training and development of new hires
- Be open to training, and on-going training when opportunities arise
Operations & Café Management
- Store Manager is hands-on FOH/BOH-learning all three positions in the café, Barista/Register skills, Kitchen Cook/Prep skills, and Bannock/Baking skills.
- Open and close the store, ensuring FOH/BOH daily checklists are completed
- Conduct café walkthroughs for cleanliness and readiness (interior and exterior)
- Oversee food safety, portion control, and service times
- Monitor inventory, manage product rotation, and place supply orders
- Collaborate with the Regional District Manager for district store checks
Customer Service
- Deliver the “Pow Wow Experience” – warm, welcoming, and memorable service
- Respond professionally to customer concerns and resolve issues promptly
- Ensure consistent product quality, presentation, and accuracy
Administrative Duties
- Manage daily cash handling, till balancing, and deposits
- Track and report, meet daily sales and labour costs/targets
- Collaborate with ownership to meet business goals
- Create and manage weekly staff schedules within budgets
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in food service or retail management
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Able to work with all personalities and cultural diversity
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that changes from day to day
- Flexible availability (including evenings and weekends)
- Familiarity with Indigenous culture and values is an asset
- Food Safe Level 1 (or willingness to complete)
- Indigenous Tourism & Hospitality Experience
