The Landscape Pilot Project (LPP) tests new ways to manage land within a Pilot Area (shown below), a subset of the DRFN Planning Area. Doig River First Nation (DRFN) and the Government of British Columbia (BC) are working in collaboration with industrial partners to:
• Test the DRFN Land Use Plan in real-world conditions, including:
• Management Tools
• Management Responses
• Land Use Planning Policies
• Use the Cumulative Effects Management Tool (CEMT) to assess impacts
• Test and develop pre-application engagement and consent-based decision-making (modernized consultation)
• Develop a new mid-tier and large project review process
This approach combines Indigenous knowledge and Western science to guide sustainable development, protect cultural values, and increase transparency. Review the LPP fact sheet below for more information.
