Doig River First Nation supplies medical services to its members and administrative staff through a community nurse as well as regularly scheduled, on-reserve visits by health professionals and service providers including:
- Doctor visits on-reserve every 2 weeks
- Visits by other medical professionals and service providers such as: optometrists, physiotherapists, foot care specialists, diabetes management specialists and nutritionists
Community Nurse
DRFN employs a full time community nurse who provides services including:
- Development and on-going management of Individual Care Plans
- Blood pressure checks
- Drug testing
- Home visits
- Referrals to additional health services and specialists including counselors
- Coordination of on-reserve visits with First Nations Health Authority nurses
- Patient travel for medical appointments
- Health education and prevention
